Proverbs 31:26-31

“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

She speaks with wisdom: You have taken me under your wing and shown me what it is like to be a God-fearing woman in a Devil-focused world. You taught me how to carry myself, how to defend myself, and how to stand up for others when they cannot do it themselves. Your wisdom is irreplaceable and your light is brighter than any hardship life may throw our way.

She watches over the affairs of her household: You have been the glue that holds our family together – making sure we are fed, clothed, and loved. Dad may fix the gutters and replace shingles, but you are the one who makes a house truly a home. A structurally sound home cannot survive without a solid foundation — much like our family cannot survive without your foundational love.

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: I am so blessed to be your daughter. Life isn’t easy, neither is love – but you and dad have taken a naïeve little girl, showed her how strong she can be, and let her soar. Soar well over the little mountains of silent acres where she calls home. Soar over the trials and tribulations of the world, and become a God-fearing woman. I can only pray to be half the wife and mother you are.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised: You taught me that church and communities are important, but having unshakable faith in our Lord is crucial to showing God’s grace, love, and mercy. There are many obstacles we face in life, but your loyalty throughout them all has shown me the depth of love that Jesus Christ has for me.

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate: Your servitude radiates. You have led by example that God is always faithful and that no matter what, never be afraid to share your blessings with others, because He will always provide for you. You willingly give and share not only resources — but an outpour of love and wisdom to those in our community. You have touched infinite hearts that will forever be positively impacted by your grace.

Mom, thank you for being the best role model a little girl could ask for. I love you and everything you represent. You are a Proverbs 31 woman through and through – even if you do cuss a little and love to drink beer. Thank you for the laughs, thank you for the lessons — but most importantly, thank you for being you.

Love,

Supergirl
